Qingdao East Asia FC has appointed a new coach ahead of the league's relegation battle, following their recent defeat in the league.
The club announced on Monday that they have signed former Chinese Super League player and current Shanghai Shenhua coach, Zhang Xiaowu, as their new head coach for the 2018-2019 season.
Zhang is known for his experience in the Chinese football scene and will be looking to build upon his success at Shanghai Shenhua.
"The appointment of Zhang Xiaowu as our new head coach comes after we have shown great determination and resilience," Qingdao East Asia FC president Song Xuejian said.
"We believe that with his guidance, we can continue to progress and achieve greater success."
Zhang's appointment follows a disappointing performance from Qingdao East Asia FC in the league last season, which saw them finish bottom of the table.
However, he was able to turn things around and led the team to promotion to the second tier of China's top-tier football league, the CSL.
"Having played in the highest level of Chinese football before, I am confident that I can bring fresh ideas and strategies to help Qingdao East Asia FC achieve success," Zhang said.
Despite the setback, the club remains optimistic about their chances of making it back into the top tier of Chinese football.
"Our goal is to keep challenging ourselves and improving every day," Song said.
In conclusion, Qingdao East Asia FC has made a bold move by appointing Zhang Xiaowu as their new head coach ahead of the league's relegation battle. With Zhang's experience and coaching skills, the club should be able to bounce back and make it back into the top tier of Chinese football.
