VfL Wolfsburg has completed a stunning comeback against TSG Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday evening.
The match was tightly contested throughout but it was the home side who were able to take the lead early on through a goal from Timo Werner. However, Wolfsburg refused to give up and fought back valiantly.
In the second half, the Wolves created several chances but could not find the back of the net. It looked like they would be held to a draw until substitute Julian Brandt scored with just seconds left on the clock.
Brandt's late equaliser secured all three points for Wolfsburg and gave them some much-needed breathing space at the top of the table. The win also lifted the Wolves out of the relegation zone.
"It's always difficult to come back from two goals down," said head coach Urs Meier after the match. "But we showed great character and determination."
For TSG Hoffenheim, the defeat was a disappointing one as they had been hoping to climb up the table following their impressive performance against Bayern Munich earlier in the week.
Despite the loss, Hoffenheim will look to bounce back next weekend when they host Hannover 96. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, will now turn their attention to securing another victory this weekend.
