Born in 2004 to American parents in the Netherlands, Simons began his football journey at PSV Eindhoven before moving to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at just seven years old. His time at PSG was formative, though he struggled to break into the first team under manager Thomas Tuchel.
In 2022, Simons joined Lille on loan, quickly becoming a pivotal player with 12 goals and five assists in all competitions. This performance earned him a permanent move to Leipzig, where he has so far played eight times, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
